“The man is bad news. He has a bad reputation”, the fat lady said with a  frown.

“I heard he sleeps with all his female employees,” added her slim partner who stole a look at the entrance to the massive building.

Few seconds later, a jeep pulled over to the entrance. A well dressed, middle aged   man stepped out of the car while the jeep zoomed off. As soon as the fat lady saw him, her face took on a fright, she nudged her partner and whispered,

“That is him…that is the man!”.

The ladies took to their heels, making the man aware of them for the first time.

I moved closer to the said man wanting to confirm my curiosity.

“Morning, sir”, I said.

“Morning”, he responded with a warm smile that contrasted the hideous tales the  ladies weaved.

“Sir, you saw those ladies…”

“I did”, his smile still retaining its radiance.

I told him all they said, and his shock was visible, causing his hands to shake involuntarily.

“I am not that kind of a man”, he moaned, his eyes almost misty with genuine anger.

He held me by the hand and led me into the factory where his workers, both male and female greeted him with unfeigned enthusiasm. One after the other they thanked him for adding to their salaries and for helping them with different personal issues. My tongue cleaved to the roof of my mouth in shock.

“You can see for yourself”, he said.
